Biography

Debbie has been a USTA High-Performance National Coach for 20 years. She began coaching at the USTA National Training Center in Carson, CA. There she has worked with all levels of players from Quick Start level, to top juniors, Collegiate players, and touring pros. As a coach Debbie and her teams have won many National and International Gold Medals, including the Pan Am Games, Maureen Conolly Brinker Cup, USTA National Team Championships, and local SCTA team events.

Debbie was the #1 Junior in the USA and #2 Junior in the World. She won many National Gold Balls and went on to play at Stanford University.  There she went undefeated in team play and won the NCAA team title 3 times, NCAA singles individuals once, and was runner-up in the NCAA doubles twice. Debbie went on to be #1 in NCAA singles.
At Stanford, Debbie won the Broderick Award (Now Honda Sports Award) as the top collegiate player in 1990.  She was named Tennis Magazine's Rookie of the Year and College Athlete of the Year, for multiple years.  Debbie was inducted into the Stanford Hall of Fame in 2007.

In 1992, Debbie was named the WTA Most Impressive Newcomer, a highly distinguished award.  As a Pro Debbie played Fed Cup for the USA for three years and went undefeated.  She also became top ten in the world in doubles and top 35 in the world in singles.
Debbie was inducted into the Southern California Tennis Hall of Fame in 2017.
Debbie also developed a youth program in, So Cal called Little Aces Tennis.  This program went into schools in the area and taught young kids how to play Quick Start tennis. 

Debbie is excited to turn Mater Dei tennis into a premier Nationally ranked program.
