Title IX's Impact on High School Athletics

Title IX is landmark civil rights legislation enacted in 1972 prohibiting discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance. In celebration of this milestone for Title IX, Mater Dei created a special video featuring some of our female athletes:

Mater Dei High School was honored to have three female athletes featured in a commemorative issue of Sports Illustrated in June 2022. Featured on the cover are Jada Ward ‘22 (Girls Water Polo) and Emma Thipavong ‘23 (Girls Golf).

Camden Joko ‘22 (Girls Basketball) is featured in the inside cover story.
