Head Coach - Jessica Foley

Coach Jessica Foley is entering into her 3rd year as Head Coach at Mater Dei High School. 


Jessica joined the Mater Dei family as an Assistant Varsity Coach in 2016.  She helped the coaching staff guide the 2016 team to a successful season with a 27-7 record.  The Monarchs also finished second in three tournaments, tied for second place in the Trinity League, and won the school's third CIF SS Division 1 Championship.        

Foley began coaching at Mater Dei High School after serving for nine seasons (2007-2015) as the Assistant Varsity Coach at El Modena High School.  In her time at El Modena she helped lead the teams to four League Championships, three 2nd place finishes, and the school's 1st CIF Championship in 2008.  

Jessica graduated from El Modena High School in 2005, where she was a 4 year varsity letter winner.  Foley pitched, played 1st base and the outfield.   She went on to play at St. Johns University and returned home to finish her education.  After earning her AA from Santiago Canyon College, she transferred to Concordia University Irvine and graduated with a degree in Liberal Arts in December of 2017.
Assistant Varsity Coach - Jim Bollinger
Coach Jim Bollinger is a retired Contractor with 27+ years of coaching experience.   Jim Bollinger founded the American Athletics Travel Organization in 1998 and his coaching experience has included Orange Coast College, Mater Dei High School, Villa Park and JSerra.   While at Mater Dei (1994-1997) Jim was the Assistant Varsity Coach when the program won their first CIF-SS Div. 1 Championship in 1996 and were ranked No. 1 in the state.

Coach Jim is a veteran, having served with the US Army Corp. of Engineers in Vietnam.  
Coach Jim and his wife, Susan,  currently are the Tournament Directors for the prestigious elite fastpitch showcase, and The Champions Cup, which just celebrated over ten (10+) years.

Assistant Varsity Coach - Pepe Vazquez

Coach Pepe Vazquez joins the Varsity coaching staff at Mater Dei this year.  He became a part of the Mater Dei family in 2017 as the Head JV Coach.  He has over 20 years of coaching experience at both the high school and travel ball levels.  Before coming to Mater Dei, he served as the Head Varsity Softball Coach at Tustin High School (2011-2013) and the Head Freshman Baseball Coach at Tustin High School (2005-2007).  Vazquez also served on the coaching staff of the OC Diablos, OC Batbusters, and OC Crush 12u teams.  Vazquez lead the OC Crush to a Triple Crown Championship in 2009. He gives private hitting instruction out of Santa Ana, and works with athletes of all ages.


Vazquez has worked for Tustin Unified School District for 21 years.  He is currently an Energy Specialist for the school district. He and his wife have 4 daughters ranging from the ages of 5 to 21.  Their oldest daughter, who he coached throughout her career, recently graduated from LIU where she was a 4 year starter at the division 1 collegate level.

Head JV Coach - Karina Munoz
Coach Karina Munoz joins the Mater Dei coaching staff as the Head JV Coach this year. 
Munoz graduated from El Modena High School in 2013, and was a catcher for the Vanguards.  She continued her education at Dakota State University and Santa Ana College, and was a student athlete at both schools.    Before becoming a part of the Mater Dei family Munoz served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Santa Ana College, 2016-2017.  
Munoz currently works for the Anaheim Police Department as a Detention Facility Assistant.  She has been working for the police Department since 2015 where she started as a Police Cadet for her first two years.  She hopes to continue to grow her career within the police department and become a Police Officer in the near future.


Assistant JV Coach - Jezz Portillo


Coach Jezz Portillo is entering into her 2nd year as the JV Assistant Coach. 


Portillo joined the Mater Dei coaching staff in 2018. Jezz graduated from Canyon High School in 2014, where she was a 4 year varsity starter.  During her high school career she played both catcher and first base.  After graduating from Canyon she continued her education at Cypress College.  She was a member of the Cypress Charger Softball team during the 2015 and 2016 seasons helping lead the Chargers to back to back OEC Championships and State Tournaments appearances. As the teams starting catcher she was an All OEC selection both seasons. Unfortunately her softball career ended due to an arm injury but she hopes to use her experience to make an impact on her athletes as a coach and mentor.


Jezz has been giving private pitching a catching instruction for the past 9 years and is currently enrolled at Cypress College, pursuing a degree in Human Development.
