Hybrid Learning Social Distance Protocols
On Tuesday September 22th the Hybrid Learning Schedule will begin with no athletic activity during the school day that week. Athletics will resume on their normal schedule Monday September 28th. The athletic department has configured entry and exit points for each athletic facility, and has created social distancing guidelines in accordance with the Orange County Department of Health and the State of California for athletes and coaches to follow. The guidelines are on page three of this document for your reference. Our protocols remain the same as they currently do for fall off-season training; should they change you’ll be notified by the Athletic Department. Your head coach will inform you of your entry and exit points as we get closer to the 28th.
Safety Protocols
The Mater Dei athletic department continues its commitment to the safe return of our student-athletes with guidelines designed to ensure the well-being of our athletes, coaches and staff. Our coaches are required to wear masks at all times and follow social distancing protocols as outlined by the CDC and NFHS. Student-athletes are required to wear a mask from when they get out of their car, until they are actively engaged in an activity which includes working out on the field, gym, pool or while in the weight room. The guidelines are clear that athletes should not wear a mask when working out due to health concerns. There will be signs posted in all areas of athletics to remind our student-athletes and coaches to diligently follow safety protocols. Practices are designed to ensure there is enough space for our teams to physical distance and limit exposure. Any student-athlete transitioning from a practice to class are expected to be on time. Meal Plan Options
Mater Dei is pleased to offer athletic meal options for your student/athlete which are tailored to each sport program and its practice schedule. This will be done as a monthly subscription and food will be packaged and available to student athletes in a grab and go style. If you’re interested, please indicate on the survey that was sent out earlier. Additionally, we will have access to food and drinks around the athletic area so athletes will have access to good nutrition throughout the day. Our head coaches will be following up with families regarding the stocking of these refrigerators with different healthy options
Locker Room Usage & Personal Hygiene
For programs that practice in the morning and attend PM classes, showers and locker rooms will be available to use. Each sport is assigned a team room, and coaches will monitor number of athletes, to ensure the social distancing rules are followed.
Practice Schedules & Free Time
Please keep an eye out from your head coach containing practice and weight room schedule information. If you are unsure of your practice schedule, please reach out to your head coach for clarification. If your schedule includes free time between the conclusion of morning practice and the start of the academic day, please know that students may spend that time in the Bristol Parking Lot. We have installed 18,000 square feet of outdoor tenting over the Bristol Lot, which will serve as an outdoor area for students to eat and complete assignments while remaining socially distant.
