Team Carpooling. The team needs help with carpooling almost every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.  Please email Coach Martinez if you can help transport runners from Mater Dei to the practice location.  There is no need to transport runners back to MD after practice.

Team Announcements:

 

Team XC Fees.  Team fees are $485 per runner and will be paid online. Payment options will be available. Click Here to pay.  Team Fees are due by September 15th.

 

Team XC Donation. In order to simplify the beginning of the fall season and school year, the Cross Country team will not do a formal team fundraising campaign.  We will simply ask that each runner make a mandatory donation of $200 by August 31st.  Checks should be made payable to Mater Dei and turned in directly to Coach Martinez.

Team Attendance Policy.  All athletes are required to attend every practice.  Athletes are allowed 5 absences total regardless of the reason or excuse for missing practice.  This is a “no questions asked” policy.  We will not differentiate between an excused or unexcused absence, or an acceptable or unacceptable absence. Consequences start with not racing and will progress to a suspension then dismissal from the team.  Runners that miss Monday and/or Tuesday practices may not race that weekend.  Runners who cannot finish a workout or training run may not race that weekend.  The head coach reserves the right to use his personal discretion in considering any special circumstances surrounding an athlete’s absence.

 

AGAIN, ANY ABSENCE ON A MONDAY OR TUESDAY MAY RESULT IN NOT RACING THAT WEEKEND.  VARSITY ATHLETES ARE NEVER ALLOWED TO MISS FOR ANY REASON.

 

ANY ATHLETE MISSING ANY DAY OVER THE LAST 2 WEEKS OF THE SEASON, REGARDLESS, OF THE EXCUSE MAY BE HELD OUT OF THE TRINITY LEAGUE PRELIMS AND FINALS.

 

 

XC/Track Block Athletic Class.  The block athletic class is for varsity and potential varsity athletes.  Placement requires Coach Martinez’s approval.  Athletes can still be on the Cross Country and Track teams despite not being enrolled in the class. Cross Country runners are required to do Spring Track as a distance runner in order to be considered for this class, and remain in the class.  Runners must commit to competing at League Prelims and Finals for Track, League Preview and Finals for Cross Country.

 

Next year (2019-2020) enrollment will require registration and participation in summer camp, either XC or Track, as well as 75% attendance in the summer camp. Athletes that are enrolled in 2018-2019 class are not guaranteed to enrollment for next year (2019-2020).

 

Also, in order to be considered for the 2019-2020 Block Athletic Class, distance runners must login, join, and upload their pre-camp training runs from on STRAVA.

 

Any enrolled athlete that QUITS the XC and/or TRACK team will not be allowed to continue weight lifting.  They will use Blk. 4 as a STUDY PERIOD for the remainder of the year if they are unable to transfer out.
