Chris Segesman was a water polo standout at Dos Pueblos High School in Santa Barbara CA from 1994- 1997. He went on to play at California State University, Long Beach from 1997-2002 while earning a BA in Human Development and a minor in Kinesiology. He earned his Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in 2007.
 
A three-time All-American at California State University, Long Beach, Segesman was also a finalist for the Pete Cutino Male College Athlete of the Year award. From 2000-2004 Segesman was a member of the United States Water Polo National Team and a 2004 Olympian in Athens, Greece. On club level he played for Los Angeles Water Polo Club in United States.
 
After the Olympics, Segesman went on to coach Mater Dei High School’s Women's and Men's Water Polo for 13 seasons. He created a dynasty at Mater Dei and captured 7 CIF championships in 10 years. He resigned in December of 2017 to pursue other interest and spend more time with his family. Segesman guided and produced three 2016 Olympians: Bret Bonanni, McQuin Baron and Thomas Dunstan.
 
Segesman returned to the pool deck in 2021 to coach club water polo for SOCAL Water Polo Foundation at the youth level. Most recently, Segesman returned to Mater Dei High School in the winter of 2023 as the new head coach for Women’s Water Polo with assistant coach, Nathan Allard. 
 
Segesman has been inducted into the CIF-Southern Section Hall of Fame, Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Hall of Fame, California State University, and Long Beach Athletics Hall of Fame for the great impact he has made to the sport of water polo as a player and coach.
 
Chris Segesman is currently a partner at one of the top residential development companies in Orange County, California. He lives in North Tustin, California with his wife Heather and three daughters Reaghan, Paige, and Madison.
